HomeAway Updates Straight From PhoCusWright Conference

I am at Phocuswright show listening to Brian Sharples from HomeAway and he mentioned their new service for owners.   The ability in 5 minutes for an owner to sign up to take credit cards or echecks.  There is no credit card review process and the commission is a flat 2.5% for credit cards and 1% for echeck.  The product is not designed to put HomeAway into the middle of the transaction but more to continue their model but allow them to do electronic transaction.  It will be interesting to see how cancelations will work regarding this new product and the issue of charge backs when it comes to owners and how the one can police those owners that need to be controled for misrepresentation.
