How did you become interested in the vacation rental industry?
I can’t exactly say that I became “interested” in the vacation rental industry but when I moved from California to the Outer Banks of North Carolina 17 years ago, it became part of my daily lifestyle. I had a short stint as a house cleaner and reservationist while pursuing my accounting degree at Elizabeth City State University. I eventually went on to a corporate job but decided it wasn’t the healthiest lifestyle for me. So, when Claiborne came to me about an opening at Barefoot, I decided it would be the best fit for myself and my family. I’m a problem solver and it has suited me perfectly, one of the best career decisions I have made to date.
What are your hobbies?
As lame as this answer is, my family is my biggest hobby. This is especially true now that I have a daughter who is actively involved in many sports. She keeps my husband and me going non-stop. Then there’s my toddler who just goes non-stop until she hits a wall.

Here is why Sean likes working in the Vacation Rental Industry:
"My first exposure to the Vacation Rental Industry was in 2001 working for a small equipment and linen rental business located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I was later promoted to management, and eventually became an owner operator. After years of explosive growth the company had evolved into a full time, year round business, serving VRM's and their guests from South Eastern North Carolina to Charleston, SC. Being part of a unique small business provided me with exposure to so many other facets of the industry. I was involved in a high-volume commercial laundry, walk in rental locations, golf cart retail and rentals, and a walk in Jet Ski rental location.
I found that working with vacation rental management teams and their guests was extremely rewarding. After a couple of family get-togethers in vacation rentals, I realized the passion I had found for the industry."
"My passion is sailing and the ocean. I am an avid outdoorsman and enjoy camping, hiking, backpacking, and fishing. I love to run, wrench on cars, race my 1/8th scale RC car, target shoot, and occasionally pick up the guitar.
Something you don't know about Sean?
He absolutely adores his 6lb Chihuahua.
I am a Support Team member who specializes with clients accounting assistance needs.
How did you become interested in the Vacation Rental Industry?
I became interested in the Vacation Rental Industry by chance, starting as a cleaner for extra money on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. After that I moved on to become a reservationist and then Property Manager. Being able to work in Carova daily and see the wild horses was an amazing experience. There are times I found that have knowledge of the in and outs of a Property Manager helps me, help you.
How else do you like to spend your time?
My days off are spent with my family that include my dogs Rucker and Honeybee. When I get a chance, I love to try new restaurants and go to country concerts. May favorite is Darius Rucker, hint, one of my dogs is named after him.

Hi! I’m Kirsten and I’m a Solutions Engineer here at Barefoot. My job is to provide consolatory services and solutions through Barefoot services and partner integrations.
I have 17 years of experience in vacation rental management in Ocean City, MD because I’m a glutton for punishment (kidding) and have worked just about every position that you can possibly imagine in the industry from the front of the house to the back of the house. While I like to say that I have seen it all, I know that is just crazy talk. While working in OCMD with a local real estate company, I was a Barefoot user for 8 years. During that time, I had the privilege of getting to know the great team here. Unfortunately, the company was sold to Vacasa and my tenure in vacation rental management ended. I was then recruited by Vintory and spent some time helping vacation rental companies grow before joining Barefoot in October of 2022.
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my children and boyfriend. I like to drag them all out on outdoor excursions and make them do physical activities which don’t involve electronics (i.e. hiking, roller skating, kayaking, the beach). We also watch terrible movies and enjoy thrifting for treasures. My original life plan was to be a veterinarian and while that didn’t pan out, I do somehow end up rescuing animals on a fairly regular basis. At this current time, we have reached our cat quota for the decade, though we do love them. If you can’t find me, I’m usually outside, probably chasing chickens, maybe driving a tractor.
What is your role with Barefoot?
I’m working as a part of the support team as well as the development team, and I’m very excited to be joining barefoot and hope to get to know everyone:)
How did you become interested in the travel industry?
I love traveling and browsing through vacation homes, so it’ll be interesting to see the other side of it!
What are your hobbies?
I played ultimate frisbee all through high school and college, and I love skiing, hiking or anything outdoors. I also dabble a bit in photography and especially like taking pictures of spotted cows.
What is something that most people don't know about you?
I lived in China for 5 years from 4th to 8th grade and can write and speak mandarin fluently (but I still can barely cook my favorite Chinese dishes).
Before joining Barefoot, I dedicated four years to educating low-income youth in southern New Hampshire. I am eager to bridge my love of helping others with my passion for tourism and technology.
One part of Barefoot I really enjoy is our annual User Conference. It is amazing to be able to meet so many clients and partners face-to-face. I love seeing how engaged our clients are when they learn something new about our software, and their enthusiasm when meeting the “Team Barefoot” that has been helping them with their business for so long.
I am grateful to be part of this team and look forward to my future with Barefoot.
What is your role with Barefoot?
I am working as the marketing assistant to help get the word out about Barefoot to anyone in the vacation rental industry.
How did you become interested in the travel industry?
I love traveling to different locations, so excited to learn more about the industry.
What are your hobbies?
I enjoy planning vacations and traveling with the goal to visit all 50 states along with other countries. I also enjoy visiting amusement parks. I have a membership to Six Flags and have been to 4 of their locations so far.
What is something that most people don't know about you?
While visiting Universal Hollywood in December of 2019, I was able to watch the New Year's Eve performance and ended up on television.
What is your role with Barefoot?
I work primarily with the support team, training and assisting clients with their system needs. After years of working with homeowners and guests, I look forward to helping other VRM companies achieve their greatest goals.
How did you become interested in the travel industry?
I am now located inland but had lived on the Outer Banks of NC for 17 years, where employment options were mostly limited to restaurant work, cleaning vacation homes, or property management. I was lucky enough to sort of fall into the STR industry, and for over 10 years now I have worked from cleaning and inspecting, to accounting and database management, to onboarding and ticket triage... just to name a few 🙂
What are your hobbies?
In my down time I just really enjoy being home with my two spoiled cats. I also love to cook, read, watch real crime documentaries, spend time with my children and grandson, and visit the OBX regularly.
